Interviewing Prospects For availability and suitability
Refering Prospects To TDCJ for required screening and training
Assimilate Mentors Follow up for training completion
Arranging for entry to unit
Matching with Mentee
Informing Mentors of More indepth training opportunities
Program schedules and reminders
Car Pool arrangements
Resources for mentees prior to and upon release
Debriefing mentoring visits
Recognizing Mentors Providing encouragement
Arranging for recognition events or awards
Develops a Successor Identify potential successor
Train successor
ROLE OF THE CHAPLAIN IN A MENTOR PROGRAM
A Unit Chaplain could be all of the functions listed under the role of an in-prison Mentor Program Coordinator, yet in the role as volunteer administrator how much better to identify which volunteers have the spiritual gifts of administration and discernment and then to delegate those tasks that are not required of the Chaplain by policy (to include the matching process.)
